Choice of One

Posted by jedi58 at 05:06

Next year will see Timothy Zahn's return to the Star Wars universe after having re-ignited the stalled franchise 20 years ago. The great Timothy Zahn has been responsible for fan favourites such as the Thrawn trilogy, Hand of Thrawn duology, Outbound Flight, Allegiance and Survivor's Quest.

"Choice of One" follows the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo and Mara Jade in the time between Episode IV: A New Hope and Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. As Heir to the Empire was the first encounter between the main movie cast and Mara Jade it is likely she will cross paths with any prominent members of the Rebel Alliance.

Choices of One will be released in hardcover in July 2011 with cover artwork by John Van Fleet. Starwars.com also has a preview of the books cover (which is not yet final).

Red Harvest

Red Harvest front cover

After the success of the first horror novel, Death Troopers, Joe Schreiber has returned for another horror novel set in the Star Wars universe. The new book, Red Harvest will be released by Del Rey in December in the US and features art by Indika and David Stevenson.

This second book will feature new characters due to it being set approximately 4,000 BBY in the Old Republic Era before the Lost Tribe of the Sith series. The connection with the previous novel is that it will look at the origins of the virus. Judging by the front-cover we should get to see plenty of Sith action, though at present it is unknown who the Sith Lord will be.

Once it's out and you've read it, feel free to post a review of it in the forum in either the Cantina or the Collector's Vault - we'll then post it in the reviews section for all to read.

It is available for pre-order at £15.94 from Amazon UK or $17.82 on Amazon US. It doesn't appear to yet be available for pre-order for e-reader devices such as Kindle but that may change in December.

The Jedi Path

Jedi Path book and case

It's not often you come across a fiction book in the price range of reference book. By that I mean it's a book that costs almost £50,  but most of it's price tag isn't it's content but in it's presentation.

Behold a tome like no other: The Jedi Path, an artifact thought lost with the rise of the Empire, but recently discovered and now made available to all scholars of the Jedi way. This fully illustrated book comes complete with a mechanical vault, and includes numerous removable artefacts from the Jedi Order.

With the push of a button, the doors of the vault open in a wash of light and Star Wars sound effects. The inner platform rises, revealing this exclusive edition of The Jedi Path.

This ancient training manual, crafted by early Jedi Masters, has educated and enlightened generations of Jedi. It explains the history and hierarchy of the Jedi Order, and what Jedi must know to take their place as defenders of the peace in the galaxy -- from mastery of the Force to the nuances of lightsaber combat.

This new book is written by New York Times best-selling author Daniel Wallace and being published by becker&meyer! The book contains history and reference pictures for prospective Jedi Padawans and also comes with a letter tracing the book’s history, a severed Padawan braid, a metal Jedi Credit medallion, a Jedi starfighter patch, a burned poster of the Jedi Code, a map of the Jedi Temple, a lightsaber diagram sketched on the back of a napkin from Dex’s Diner, and a note on the missing pages torn from the book by a Sith.

To finish the entire thing off it comes in a electronic case which makes the book rise out of it at the press of a button (including sound effects).

The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force is a hardcover release scheduled for September 28, 2010.

Order The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force [Vault Edition] from Amazon UK.
