Clone Wars Adventures

Posted by jedi58 at 07:21

Sony Online Entertainment have announced a free to play Clone Wars Adventures game. Whilst the game itself is free to play they plan on making their money through premium items similar to how Zynga games (think Farmville, Mafia Wars, etc.) make money. Everyone who plays it will get their own home, a pet Astromech or vehicle, and the ability to create their own lightsaber.

The game itself is quite limited and will not allow you to fight other players or travel to different "hubs", but has a series of mini-games for you to play. The mini-games consist of things like typing tutors where your typing speed is what lets you proceed to the next level. Most of the mini-games sound a bit boring and uninspired, but they're the way that you achieve more Republic Credits for buying new stuff for you in-game home and costumes.

Last year Star Wars invaded the iPhone with Trench Run. This year in time for the celebration of 30 years of The Empire Strikes Back we are treated by THQ to "Battle for Hoth". It's a fun game which is based around you needing to defend Echo Base from wave after wave of Snowtroopers and Probe droids.

In the game, players assume the role of the commander of the Rebel forces as they defend the shield generators from the Imperial ground troops. With 15 levels, two game modes and two difficulty settings, plus a help and unit guide, the strategy game challenges players to properly place defensive units in order to stop waves of enemy units from destroying the generators.

In the UK it's available for £1.79 from the Apple App Store.

E3 2010: SWTOR Hope trailer

Posted by jedi58 at 10:36

Thousands of years before the Skywalkers changed the future of a galaxy far, far away there was a struggle between Jedi and Sith that threatened to destroy the Republic. It was another time of heroes and villains, one which you get to play in the latest Star Wars MMORPG from Bioware, the masters of the video game Role-playing genre.

[insert trailer here]

I hope it's possible to play this as an RPG as well as the game looks pretty cool.
